BIBLE-Q DOCUMENTATION
DESCRIPTION:
Bible-Q is a quiz-type game for the IBM PC and compatibles. It
is designed to challenge your factual knowledge of the
Scriptures and to encourage you to dig in them. The game
contains 800 questions drawn from the Scriptures. The
questions are multiple-choice and arranged in five categories--
Old Testament 1, Old Testament 2, Geography, Life of Jesus, and
New Testament.
THE SHAREWARE CONCEPT:
"Bible-Q" is provided as user-supported software. User-supported
software is a means for the computing community to receive
quality software and at the same time support software authors
directly. Shareware allows users to test-drive software before
they buy it. This way the user can make sure a program meets his
needs and tastes before he pays for a package. Shareware is
based on the honor system. Authors rely on the users to send in
registrations to support them as they continue their work.
If you decide to use this program, please register with the
author for $12. In return you get the latest registered version
with 400 more questions. The shareware version of Bible-Q is a
full working version. I packed as much as could onto one disk so
that users could try my program for as little expense as
possible. Also, those who register should receive an added
benefit for doing so. Please send registration to:

This program is distributed as is. 2) No fee, charge, or other

who charge for disks must have written permission to distribute
this program.
SPECIAL OFFER
I have another program called "Daily Bread." This program is a
calendar which displays the date, a Bible passage, and a Bible
reading for each day of the year. The readings cover the Bible over
the course of a year. The calendar is accurate even in leap years.
I also have available a demo of "Godspeed," a superfast Bible search
program. The demo includes the four gospels in the KIng James
Version. Godspeed comes from Kingdom Age Software. Send $18 for a
full, registered version of both "Bible-Q" and "Daily Bread" and the
demo version of "Godspeed."
If you would like to be able to make your own quizzes in the Bible-Q
format, I have written a program called "Quizzle." With this
program, you can write your own questions with your word processor,
as long as it can write ASCII files (files without special
characters.) Then you run these questions through a converter
program and use them with Quizzle. You can also use Quizzle to
print out tests on the questions you have written. If you would
like Quizzle, along with the above programs, please send $25.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
Bible-Q Deluxe requires and IBM PC or good compatible equipped
with an EGA card and monitor that can handle 16 colors on the
screen simultaneously. If you do not have this equipment, the
regular version of Bible-Q is designed to run on color or
monochrome systems.
INSTALLATION:
First you will probably want to make a backup copy of the game.
Use the "diskcopy" command or the "copy a:*.* b:" command. Then
set aside one of the disks in your archive. To start the game,
boot your computer with your DOS disk. At the A> prompt insert
your "Bible-Q" disk in the a: drive, type "bqx" (no quotes), and
hit enter. The game will load automatically. You may also copy
the files to your hard drive, if you have one, and run the game
from there. The only thing to remember is that the game must be
run from the default drive and the default subdirectory. For
example, if you copy this game to a directory called c:\games
you must be in that directory when you type "bqx" to run the
program. You can change to that directory with the "cd" change
directory command. The program must be able to find the data
files (cat1.dat through cat5.dat). Note: "Bible-Q" is also
available on 3.5" diskettes.
PLAYING THE GAME:
"Bible-Q" is meant to be easy to play. At various points in the
game, the computer will ask the user for input, and instructions
will be displayed on screen. For example, the game will ask the
number of players, to which the user responds by typing the
number 1,2, or 3 on the keyboard.
The player may choose between two different types of game. In the
gameboard version, players may select the category and difficulty
level of their question. After the question is presented and
answered, a gameboard appears which shows the progress of the
players. Players move spaces according to the points they score:
one space for 100 points, 2 spaces for 200 points, and so on. The
automatic version eliminates the gameboard and screen for choosing
category and difficulty level and presents questions at random for
those who want to consider a lot of questions in a short time.
